A Beautiful Stone Built Home from Home in Somerset

Ruth's barn is clean, cozy and very well equipped. The location is stunning, with the various animals on the smallholding and large garden, and surrounded by fields and amazing scenery. Ruth and Mike were super welcoming and the gift hamper of goodies was a lovely touch. Would definitely recommend. Bethany Oden.

Quiet and secluded, the barn is in an ideal location for exploring the local area. Mike and Ruth were excellent hosts and the basket of goodies waiting for us when we arrived was much appreciated, as were the newly laid eggs delivered by Mike on our first morning - Debbie Cosset.

We loved our stay in ''the Barn'', visiting local sights.  Ruth and Mike we''re extremely welcoming hosts.  We loved feeding and taking care of the animals.  It was  lovely house with pleasant bedrooms that gave us restful nights.  It was a lovely stay!  Thank you! Matthias & Filipa Wunderlich.

Started as a base for our daughter’s wedding in Castle Cary on the Saturday for which the weather from very wet !! to lovely & sunny by the time of the wedding.  Then a lovely easy cottage in which to relax and enjoy the Somerset countryside.  Mike and Ruth were so helpful as we had lots of family here on the Sunday for lunch before they went home - with extra cutlery and ample parking.  Everyone mentions the ‘welcome basket’ but in reality is just another touch  of what makes staying here so enjoyable.  Steve & Cathy Johns and Mark and Sarah Rees - Merseyside

Thank you Ruth & Mike for such a lovely welcome.  We had a wonderful time and have enjoyed some lovely walks albeit in the rain today (1st May).  There is a lovely tea room in (Cole Manor) in Cole, we can highly recommend the cakes.  We were very sad that Pinky and Perky  (the pigs - ed) didn’t seem to like our offerings.  All in all a good time was had by us all. - Bob & Lesley Kelway and Jenny & Pete Mould - Saltash, Cornwall.

We have loved our stay in your beautiful cottage.  Staying here will be a highlight of our holiday.  Somerset is a gorgeous county and staying here has allowed us time to truly experience a number of attractions the county has to offer.

A wonderful 5 Days.  Ruth & Mike are very friendly and helpful.  The dogs are adorable and indefatigable and I shall miss them terribly.

Stonehenge is a must as is Glastonbury.  The Old Pub has reasonable food at reasonable prices - There is a good sized supermarket in Wincanton.
If I ever return to England, I will make every effort to secure this converted barn for a week, I loved every moment I was here.  Brian (Australia)

Our second visit to this comfortable cottage.  Not disappointed.  Welcome basket full of delicious goodies.  Visits to Sherborne & Wells (Wed market day) a must.  Eating out, recommend - the Manor at Dichet, The Old Pub in Galhampton, Castle Cary for lunchtime pubs, cakes, bread and Novelties.

Many thanks for your welcome following my recent visit and I must say that having stayed in many Somerset cottages I can thoroughly recommend this one, it the best I’ve ever found!

The recent renovation has all the comforts of home (plus a few more), and it’s very easy to relax in the quiet surroundings.

I like to cook a bit so the fully equipped kitchen is a bonus and with two en suite bedrooms it was just perfect for friends and family to come and stay with me.

It was also great to wander around your fields early in the mornings to see the animals and enjoy the fresh Somerset air. I’ve already booked my next visit!!!

Castle Cary is a very pretty town and Wells is a must. 

Our host Ruth could not have been more pleasant and helpful with lots of local knowledge.  The welcome basket the best we’ve ever seen thank you.  What a delight !!!
